The Imposter: Engrossing and engaging documentary with a story so preposterous you wouldn’t believe it if it was used in a feature film.

Dredd: Better than the 1995 version in every way. The plot is thin but the casting is good, as is the action. It looks really good too with good photography and visual effects. The 3D isn’t bad but doesn’t add anything.

Lawless: A romanticised story of a bootlegging gang in prohibition era Virginia is solid and entertaining but not spectacular.

Premium Rush: Lightweight and silly but great fun thanks partly to great casting of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon.

Killing Them Softly: A gritty tale of low level mobsters with a strong subtext will divide opinion. Brad Pitt is on top form.

Savages: Salma Hayek is fantastic but the rest of Oliver Stone’s story of Pot growers V Mexican drug cartel is a bit of a mess.

Resident Evil: Retribution: The action is good and the dialogue is terrible, to put it another way, about what you would expect from the franchise.
