I am now officially excited about The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan’s third Batman movie. The LA Times has announced that Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle. In an article about why Catwoman should be in the next Batman movie I suggested her as a dark horse for the role. The interesting thing about the announcement is that it doesn’t actually say she will be playing Catwoman, it only refers to her as Selina Kyle. This leaves the characters role in the movie open to interpretation and speculation, will Selina Kyle become Catwoman within the movie? The debates will be endless until the movie comes out next summer, however the character fits into the plot I expect the movie to be as brilliant as the first two. The only issue, as talented and as sexy as Hathaway is, can she live up to Michelle Pfeiffer from Batman Returns? And, if that wasn’t exciting enough it also says that Tom Hardy will play Bane.

As always Fands u were ahead of the curve. This sounds good to me, i think hathaways a great actress, even in something like get smart she shines.
Not really I mentioned so many actresses one wa bound to get it!
Haven’t seen get smart sorry.
Yep, she’s a top actress. Hope she plays Catwoman in a similar vein as seductress Michelle P-P-P-feiffer in Burton’s Batman Returns.
I don’t no one can repeat that. I want her to do something completely different.
Sorry to be a gloomy gus to you blokes, but I’m not enthused about this casting but it wouldn’t be the first time Nolan disappointed me in female casting for his movies. I wasn’t crazy for Katie Holmes in Batman Begins and Scar-Jo annoyed the heck out of me in The Prestige with her terrible accent and just plain bad acting. I can’t imagine Anne can match Michelle’s seductive purr, but I hope I’m wrong. Nonetheless I’m still excited for TDKR, just not as psyched as I’d be if Eva Green or Marion Cotillard had been picked as Catwoman.
P.S. Yes I know Marion is pregnant so there’s no way she could do this role now.
She is a great actress, I would have given her an Oscar for Rachel Getting Married. Eva Gerren would also have been good. I mentioned her in the post mention above as one of my favourites for it.
I still think Nolan has a trick up his sleeve like not having her play Catwoman, but a pre catwoman Selina Kyle.
I’m rather indifferent to the casting myself. Anne Hathaway is a solid actress although as we have seen in Alice in Wonderland, she can be completely miscast. Nonetheless, she should make for an interesting and credible love interest for Batman/Bruce Wayne (unlike Maggie Gyllenhaal lol). Tom Hardy was fun in Inception, but the most interesting aspect will be how his character will be incorporated in Nolan’s realistic world.
Cotillard would be too much. Might as well pop DiCaprio in there while you’re at it. Hate Johanssen, too, worst actress ever. Prestige is such an amazing movie, and she tries to ruin it. Eva Green would be a great call. Can’t wait
We have you on tape calling this on the MILFcast, my friend… Pre-Cog!!!
I had completely forgotten what we discussed, I have just listened back. From the way I introduced it, it sounds like Anne Hathaway wasn’t really in contention back then, there is only one explanation, Christopher Nolan listens to the Milfcast! We even came up with Tom Hardy although not in the right part.
I still cannot believe Anne Hathaway will be Catwoman? she is horrible for this role! I may eat my words because I thought wtf when Heath Ledger was cast for the role of Joker, But he was phenomenal… I think this will be a repeat just like Halle Berry. Horrible to say the least! She always has that dumb smile on her face. She cannot be taken seriously for a role like this! Why not Kate Beckinsale? She’s hot and proved herself in Underworld!
In Nolan we trust. I think the man knows what he is doing. As for her always having “that dumb smile on her face” she can play gritty and real, go and watch Rachel Getting Married, she is phenomenal. As for your comment “She cannot be taken seriously for a role like this!” it shows how far comic book adaptations have come if people are asking if an Oscar nominated actress can be taken seriously in a comic book movie.
Hey, friend. I’m sorry to break this to you, but Dark Knight Rises is the last movie in this Batman series. I was watching the preview at Harry Potter and I was nearly bawling.
MEIN U ALL SUCK ASS, JUST LET THE MOVIE B MADE N THATS THAT!!!
i hope Anne Hathaway roles not a dark role (down and gloomy ) these actors get to consumed by characters and in the same breath Keith ledger may he rest in pease the main villain just looks average did not like him in bronson i fell asleep watching it i also think Anne is miss cast as cat woman she to nice never mind u cant do anything about spilt milk oh look i made a joke .
I do not like Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Her image is tainted by Ella Enchanted and The Princess Diaries. I’d rather see Michelle Pfeiffer again
I love Michelle Pfeiffer but does The Dark Knight Rises really need a 54 year old Catwoman? As for Ella Enchanted and The Princess Diaries, give the girl a break and watch Rachel Getting Married, and don’t forget Pfeiffer has Grease 2 on her CV!
