Eleven movies seen this month. Frozen is an interesting one, available in cinemas, on DVD and online in the same month, far from a classic but worth a look. Buried is tense claustrophobic and sometimes hard to watch, don’t let that put you off. Takers had its moments but was happeperd by a week script and bad acting. Made in Dagenham is a great little British movie based on a true story. I’m not sure it will travel well outside the UK but hope I’m wrong. Mr Nice, again a British movie based on a true story, not as good as Made in Dagenham but probably has a wider appeal. The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud is a surprisingly drama with a supernatural twist. Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps unfortunately doesn’t quite work. The Social Network is an engrossing tale based on the invention of Facebook. Easy A is possibly the best teen comedy since the 80’s. RED is good fun but lacking an substance. The Kids Are All Right is a family drama with a twist, it is elevated by fantastic acting and some really funny moments.

The Movie of the Month is:  The Social Network

A fantastic movie that is intelligently made and supremely acted. With an unexpected subtlety and understated confidence that doesn’t feel the need to show-off, this is a movie to enjoy as well as to admire. Like so many of David Fincher’s previous movies I suspect this one that will get better with time and repeated viewings.
