My movie of the month has now been running for a year, below are the monthly winners.
June 2009 – The Hangover (41)
July 2009 – Public Enemies (8)
August 2009 – The Hurt Locker (2)
September 2009 – Fish Tank (12)
October 2009 – Zombieland (10)
November 2009 – Jenifer’s Body (20)
December 2009 – The White Ribbon (11)
January 2010 – The Book of Eli
February 2010 – Pontypool
March 2010 – Kick-Ass
April 2010 – Whip It
May 10 – Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
The number in brackets represents their rank in my 2009 list of movies.
Hazzah! Zombieland!
The Hurt Locker definitely deserves the number 2 ranking, if not number 1. Would probably put The Hangover a little higher in the list, I was surprisingly impressed by it. Haven’t seen The White Ribbon yet, but it’s on my list.
The Hurt Locker just lost out to Let The Right One In as the movie of the year.
The White Ribbon is a strange film, it is well worth seeing although you may not necessarily enjoy it. Take a look at my review.
So I just skimmed back through the last twelve months, and if I had this feature on my blog (not like I’m looking to nick it or anything) these would be my picks…
6/09: AWAY WE GO
7/09: THE HURT LOCKER
8/09: INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS
9/09: THE INFORMANT
10/09: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
11/09: AN EDUCATION
12/09: PRECIOUS
1/10: A SINGLE MAN
2/10: SHUTTER ISLAND
3/10: GREEN ZONE
4/10: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
5/10: THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES
I missed Away we go, not interested in training a dragon and The Secret in Their Eyes hasn’t been released here yet (I am really keen to see it after reading all about it for my research for my LAMB devours the Oscars blog), all your others are good choices and were in consideration.
I believe Inglourious Basterds, Shutter Island and How To Train Your Dragon would have made my list as well.
However I would take The Hurt Locker and Kick Ass from Andy’s list whilst adding Avatar and Robin Hood onto my list of this year.
Wow…you liked ROBIN HOOD that much huh?? I dug it, but it wasn’t even the best thing I saw that week!
ha! you must be the only person alive who liked Public Enemies.
kudos on J’s Body though, I liked it too.
No a few people liked it, I thought I was the only one who liked Jenifer’s Body though.
*raises his hand* I liked PUBLIC ENEMIES
