Top Five Oscar Tragedies

You may have read my recent alterative views on the Best Picture, Best Actor and Best actress Oscar.  Here are my top five Oscar tragedies (all selections are from within my lifetime).  I have resisted the temptation of picking my favorite films the way I did in the other articles so you won’t see Star Wars taking Annie Halls statute.  Instead I have picked instances where an outstanding film or performance has lost out to an average or poor film/performance.

  • Best Picture 1981
  • Winner: Ordinary People
  • Should have won: Ragging Bull
