Welcome to my new feature.  Movie of the month in which I will pick five nominations and state why they have been nominated.  From them I will pick the film of the month.  Being the best film may not be enough on its own to win as you will see.  The rules are simple.  The film has to be released in the UK and in the selected month and seen by me.  (as they are my rules I may break them if there is a particularly good direct to DVD film but that is unlikely).  So the nominations for June are:

  • Terminator Salvation: For being better than al lot of critics have suggested.
  • The Hangover: For being much better than I expected it to be.
  • Anything for Her: Great French thriller with some truly tense moments.
  • Rudo y Cursi:  The repairing of Y tu mamá también pairing of Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal.
  • Looking for Eric: Eric Cantona playing himself (sort of) in a Ken Loach Film.  What more do you want.
  • Terminator Salvation

Not the best film I saw in June but the one I was most pleasantly surprised by.
